Why sovereign agency, why now

Intelligence is becoming ambient and load-bearing. Within a decade it will sit inside every economy, every service, every institution. The question that will define this era is not who moved first, but who turns intelligence into prosperity, security and agency.

Sovereign agency, defined

Sovereign agency in AI means choice, with recourse. It is never autarky. No nation can, or should, build everything alone; every nation should be able to choose its dependencies knowingly, and change them if they fail it. No nation should have to choose between adopting AI and remaining the author of its own future.

Why a council

The decisions that will shape the AI future are being made now, in many places at once: in laboratories, ministries, treasuries and markets. The people making them rarely share a room, and rarely share a frame. The Council for Sovereign AI exists to change that. It is a non-profit, guided by a rotating council of people selected from across the world, who carry the mission between gatherings. Its convenings are held under the banner of Further Together, on a simple premise: if you want to go far, go together.

Principles

• Independence. Sponsorship never buys the agenda or the guest list. No one pays to speak.
• Balance. The whole conversation in one room: governments, builders, investors and scientists.
• Concreteness. Every gathering ends with something concrete: a commitment, an introduction or a next step.
